The mist draws slowly across the mountain faces up to the top of the Sasso Lungo, where it disappears into the sky; the sun’s rays warm my skin; I breathe in the fresh mountain air and my eyes gaze up over the lush, green meadows.
I am happy to be here; happy to be setting out on another day of hiking. I get dressed and make my way down to breakfast. Greeted by a warm smile, I enjoy my coffee on the panorama terrace. Replenished and ready for action, I set off from outside the hotel to the Sasso Lungo chalet at 2,200 m. The sun is my companion as I wander through lush forests, mountain meadows and past crystal-clear streams... This day should never end, I think to myself during the hike; I feel so good here in the mountains: the fresh mountain air, these wonderful views. My thoughts drift completely away from stress and the hustle and bustle... At the chalet, I enjoy typical South Tyrolean hospitality while I look at the rugged faces of the Sasso Lungo, climbed once upon a time by Luis Trenker and Reinhold Messner.
With enthusiasm I return to the hotel and, full of inner pride and joy, I tell Andrea about my fantastic hike while enjoying a well-earned beer...
And then it’s straight to the swimming pool where I can really relax after my hike. Afterwards I sit in the panoramic garden while the sun is still shining... And oh how I enjoy my dinner, an absolute treat for the senses. I can really feel that familiar atmosphere that makes me feel at home...
